Self-publishing isn’t easy
A lot of steps are involved, a lot of details to cover, and a procedure that must be timed perfectly. A lot of writers struggle with all this when our job should be just to write. So I share all I know about self-publishing on my blog posts and newsletter.

time-consuming part of a book”
Self-publish step by step
The process is tricky and simple at the same time. Many writers give up feeling overwhelmed and lost. It’s also costly if you don’t do it right.
So let’s break it down a bit…
Finalize a draft
Finish your book and do all revisions and corrections you see yourself. Double check your dialogues and don’t be afraid to remove what feels redundant or cheesy. Run Grammarly or some other program to check if you missed something. But don’t procrastinate with this.
Give it to an Editor
And I mean a proper, professional editor who can do copy editing, content editing, and at the end (just before publishing) proofreading.
Don’t be stingy with this, it’s imperative process!
Engage with community
You need time to build up a following. You will need a buzz when you publish and reviews to rank to a visible page. Join communities like Goodreads and create your social media accounts. Give free arc copies and post teasers about your book or characters.
Cover and formatting
Hire a Cover artist and ask him for some extra samples that you can use on your social media.
Hire someone to properly format your book for e-pub and paperback. They are different formats and if you plan on a hard cover, add a 3rd format to be safe.
ISBN
Don’t take the free ISBNs offered by Amazon or IngramSpark etc. You want to have your own control over your publications. You need 1 ISBN per publication type: e-book, paperback, hard cover, and audiobook, are all listed separately so plan ahead.
Publish venues
Start with your e-book. Publish on Amazon KDP, then on Apple store, Kobo, Barnes & Noble and lastly IngramSpark. In that order.
Read my post HERE to see why.
Publish your Paperback to Amazon KDP and IngramSpark.
Repeat if you want hard cover and/or audio book.
